    What You’ll Need

The beauty of this recipe lies in its simplicity. It takes under 30 minutes, uses ingredients you likely have on hand, and delivers a restaurant-quality dish that’s sure to impress. As always, you can find the full printable recipe with complete instructions in the recipe card at the end of this post. Let’s take a look at what you’ll need…

    • pork chops – I opted for boneless center cut pork chops but feel free to choose bone-in if you prefer. The chops will need a little more cooking time so adjust the time accordingly.
    • seasoning – Sea salt, freshly ground black pepper and ground sage create a base of flavor for the pork chops.
    • extra virgin olive oil – You’ll need a little extra virgin olive oil to sear the pork chops and then a little more to saute the garlic and create the base for the honey garlic sauce.
    • butter – Combined with the olive oil, it creates a lot of richness and flavor in the sauce.
    • minced garlic – I used a full tablespoon of minced garlic, about 2 to 3 cloves. Feel free to use more or less depending on your preferences.
    • honey – The honey adds a lovely sweetness to the sauce and tastes delicious with the pork.
    • apple juice – I like Simply Apple Juice but any apple juice will work. You can also use chicken stock, white wine or water instead of the juice although I think apple and pork go together beautifully. The juice helps to deglaze the pan and lift off all those bits of flavor leftover from the pork chops.
    • low sodium soy sauce – The soy sauce adds a really nice, savory depth of flavor to the honey garlic sauce. Opt for a low sodium soy sauce to control the salt levels.
    • parsley – An optional garnish but it looks lovely and adds a pop of freshness.

How To Make Honey Garlic Pork Chops

  • Prep Pork. Pat the pork chops dry and then sprinkle salt, pepper and sage evenly on both sides. Gently rub the seasoning into the chops.
  • Cook Chops. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the pork chops and cook on both sides until golden brown, about 3 to 5 minutes per side. Remove the chops to a cutting board or plate and cover with foil.
  • Honey Garlic Sauce. Add butter and olive oil to the skillet. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1 minute, stirring continuously. Stir in the honey, apple juice (or chicken stock or water if using) and soy sauce, making sure to scrape all the bits off the bottom of the skillet. Bring the mixture to a simmer and continue cooking, stirring occasionally, for 5 to 7 minutes or until thickened.
  • Final Steps. Add chops back to the skillet and spoon the sauce over the top. Continue heating, basting with the sauce frequently, until pork chops reach an internal temperature of 145°F. To crisp up the edges of the chops, place under the broiler for 1 to 3 minutes.
  • Serve and Enjoy. Allow the pork chops to rest. Spoon extra sauce over the top of the chops, garnish with parsley and serve.
  • Storage Information

The Honey Garlic Pork Chops are best served fresh, but leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

    Variations To Try

    • Spice. For those who enjoy a kick of spice, adding a pinch of crushed red pepper or cayenne can add some added flavor and heat to the dish.
    • Herbs. Mix in fresh or dried thyme or rosemary for an added herbal note.
    • Citrus. For a citrusy twist, grate some orange or lemon zest into the sauce.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use bone in pork chops?

Absolutely! I’m always down for adding more flavor. You’ll need to adjust the cooking time slightly as bone-in chops will take a bit longer to cook.

When are the pork chops done cooking?

Pork chops are considered done when their internal temperature reaches 145°F. Using a meat thermometer ensures you get the perfect doneness every time.

What can I use besides apple juice?

White wine and chicken stock are delicious in this recipe but water can be used in a pinch.

    Trish’s Tips and Tricks

    • Make sure to pat your pork chops dry before adding the seasoning. This will ensure a nice sear and guarantees that lovely golden brown color.
    • Use freshly minced garlic for the best flavor. Use a garlic press for quick and easy minced garlic.
    • Get your skillet nice and hot before adding the chops. A quick sear will seal in the juices.
    • Allow time for your pork to rest after cooking. This allows the juices to redistribute, ensuring a juicy pork chop.
    • I love parsley as a great pop of color for garnish but thinly sliced green onion or even sesame seeds would be lovely.
