Jane Park is probably one of the veterans of the LPGA Tour, who is making a return to the professional scene. Her most notable accomplishment is winning the U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship and tying for low amateur at the 2006 U.S. Women’s Open. Early Life

Jane Park was born on 15th December 1986 in Chicago, Illinois. She started playing golf when she was 11 years old and later moved to Rancho Cucamonga, California. She spent one year at UCLA and was named to the 2005 first-team all-American. In 2004 and 2006, Park also competed for the United States in the Curtis Cup.

Park had a stellar amateur career, reaching the finals of three USGA events. In the 2003 U.S. Women’s Amateur championship match, she was defeated by Virada Nirapathpongporn. In the 2004 U.S. Girls’ Junior final, she was defeated by Julieta Granada.

She beat Amanda McCurdy 2-up in the finals but then recovered to win the U.S. Women’s Amateur championship that year. In 2006, Park tied for 10th at the U.S. Women’s Open, which was tied for the highest finish by an amateur that year. She turned professional in August 2006 at the age of 19.

Jane Park Career

Jane Park joined the LPGA Tour in 2007 after finishing tied for 18th at the Final Qualifying Tournament in December 2006. In 2007, she participated in a portion of the LPGA Tour’s schedule and also competed on the Futures Tour. Park returned to the Final Qualifying Tournament after placing 109th on the money list for the LPGA Tour that year.

She triumphed with a score of 17 under par and earned full LPGA Tour membership for 2008. Park had her best season on the LPGA Tour in 2008, when she earned over $630,000 and finished 29th on the money list. Park had four top-10 performances, including ties for second at the P&G Beauty NW Arkansas Championship and SBS Open at Turtle Bay.

Rise to Fame

Additionally, Jane Park placed in the top 10 twice in 2009 and once in 2010. Park continued to play on the LPGA Tour until 2021, when she had to step away from golf to care for her daughter, Grace, who suffered a series of undiagnosed brain seizures that resulted in severe brain damage while Park was competing at the Ascendant LPGA in April 2021. Grace was diagnosed with intractable epilepsy and required constant care and therapy.
